After eight happy years with the AMSP, and before that the FMSP, I have finally decided the time has come to retire and I will be leaving the AMSP at the end of April. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported all of our events during that time. There have been many student enrichment events, including workshops at universities, Maths Feasts, Senior Team Maths Challenges, Year 12 Problem-Solving Conferences, and events in schools. Many teachers have taken part in our professional development days or attended the KS5 networks across the region, and it has been a pleasure working with you.

When I decided to retire, I had anticipated holidays, outings and leisure activities, but they have been put on hold for the time being. At least lockdown should ensure that I don’t spend all my pension at once!

Although I am retiring from my role as Area Coordinator with the AMSP, I haven’t severed all ties. I will still be involved in the Teaching A level Mathematics (TAM) course and the Raising Confidence with GCSE Maths professional development days, so you might still see me around.

A new Area Coordinator has been appointed to replace me. She is an experienced maths teacher and leader of maths. I will leave her to introduce herself in the next newsletter. She will be joining the AMSP at a strange time for all of us, however I know you will give her a warm welcome, and continue to engage with all of the support and events that AMSP offers in the future.
