It was wonderful to see over 150 students from across the North West region attending our evening online enrichment event, Bits and Pieces, on Thursday 4 March 2021. The session featured a fascinating talk from Dr James Grime, where he took students on a tour of the digital world.
Students learnt about how messages are transmitted from space without mistakes, how a scratched CD (or even one with a hole in it!) can keep playing, and much more. The students’ enthusiasm was clear to see as they asked insightful questions throughout the session, which led to an excellent Q&A at the end.
A huge thanks must go to all of the panelists who helped the event to run so smoothly, as well as the teachers for giving up their evening and for signing the students up. The biggest thanks, of course, must go to James for such an engaging session.
