Recently one of my colleagues posted a question about courses, in addition to GCSE, that can be used to enrich and extend student knowledge, and to prepare students even more thoroughly for a Level 3 Maths qualification.

One of the most popular choices is the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Maths. Students who take this course are introduced to concepts in Calculus and Matrices as examples and receive a healthy diet of more rigorous proof. The course was relaunched fairly recently, but there haven’t been any external exams for the new course yet due to Covid.

To support this qualification, the AMSP are putting together a series of professional development events that will take place over the coming months. The first of these was AQA Level 2 Further Maths – An Overview, and coming soon are a series of topic-specific sessions. If you’d like to be notified when these sessions are open for bookings, please subscribe to receive our latest news.

There are of course other courses available, such as GCSE Statistics, the OCR Level 3 Additional Maths course, and the Edexcel award in Algebra.
