Over the rest of the 2021/22 academic year, we’re running our suite of Raising Confidence courses that aim to improve your teaching of GCSE Mathematics and the skills of your students.
You can choose from four one-day Raising Confidence courses, all of which will provide strategies and ideas that you can use straight away in your classroom, and support in developing your professional practice and that of departmental colleagues. The courses will also consider how your department can develop its curriculum in line with the 2019 Ofsted Framework.
Courses available to book are:
Raising Confidence with Higher Mathematics in the GCSE classroom
- Focuses on increasing classroom confidence with GCSE topics that are vital for students continuing into Core Maths, AS/A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics study.
Raising Confidence with Problem Solving in the GCSE classroom
- Focuses on the development of problem solving through GCSE Mathematics.
Raising Confidence with Reasoning in the GCSE classroom
- Focuses on the development of reasoning from KS2 through to GCSE.
Raising Confidence with Technology in the GCSE classroom
- Focuses on developing technology skills for secondary education teachers.
To get the most from our suite of Raising Confidence courses, we’d recommend that someone from your school or college attends all of the one-day courses. However, it’s not necessary for the same teacher to attend all four courses as they’re designed to support different teachers on different days. Instead, we’d encourage you to discuss the content of the different days to enable you to share good practice across your department.
All of our Raising Confidence courses are free for teachers working in state-funded schools and colleges. Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of £250 to support staff cover and travel costs.
