COURSE OVERVIEW
Gain practical ideas and renewed confidence in teaching AS pure mathematics.
Our Subject Knowledge Live | AS Mathematics: Pure Improvers course is designed for teachers who are already familiar with AS pure content. You will explore how to refine your approach, broaden your teaching repertoire and explore ways to make key ideas more accessible and engaging for students.
Across five interactive sessions, you will revisit core areas of AS pure mathematics from across the major specifications, including functions, differentiation, integration, trigonometry, and logarithms and exponentials. Tutors will model effective ways to present and develop subject knowledge, including the thoughtful use of technology. During the course, there will be opportunities to discuss, reflect, and share classroom practice.
By taking part, you will gain strategies, activities and insights that can support student understanding and help you teach this content with greater clarity and confidence. You will also have access to course-specific resources and session recordings in Integral for a full year, allowing you to revisit ideas and continue developing your practice over time.
5 online sessions
The five online sessions will last 90 minutes and be held via the Big Blue Button (BBB), which will be accessible via MEI’s learning platform, Integral.
You will also have one years of access to course-specific resources online via MEI’s learning platform, Integral.
Please ensure you are able to attend at least 75% of your chosen scheduled sessions before applying.

Yes. Trainee teachers are eligible to join all Subject Knowledge Live courses; the standard course fee will apply. If you have secured a role in a state-funded school or college in England, or are currently undertaking a placement in one, and the school is willing to be named on your application, you will be eligible to attend free of charge.
This course covers a selection of the topics from each of the major specifications, but should not be considered comprehensive.
This course will take a peer-to-peer approach: we will be delivering subject knowledge whilst modelling recommended pedagogies. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on the practices demonstrated as well as their own teaching approaches to the content. If you require even greater focus on pedagogy, we recommend our extended professional development programmes.
