COURSE OVERVIEW

A one‑day professional development event for both current and aspiring Core Maths teachers.

Whether you already offer Core Maths or are considering introducing it, the conference provides a valuable opportunity to deepen your teaching practice.

The day focuses on wider pedagogical approaches to teaching Core Maths effectively, engaging tasks for students with a broad range of prior attainment, and supporting clear mathematical communication and problem-solving.

You will also have the chance to network with teachers from other schools and colleges, share ideas and resources, and take away practical strategies you can use straight away in your classroom.

Each year, the conference has a different focus. You can view or download this year’s conference schedule below for more information.

Practical Approaches

Clear Communication

Explore methods to help students express their mathematical thinking and problem‑solving processes confidently.

It is amazing to spend time with other teachers of Core Maths as we are often teaching in isolation in our schools so it is reassuring to hear what other people are doing and share challenges and successes.

There were very engaging speakers and there was a great balance between theory, sharing of their knowledge and opportunities to talk, discuss and collaboratively plan.

Lots of discussions, real scenarios, easy communication, access to resources and great planning ideas.
