Programme Overview
AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics is an additional qualification designed for high-attaining Key Stage 4 students who are likely to progress to post-16 maths. Taken alongside GCSE Mathematics, it will challenge students through deeper algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, graphs, calculus and matrices. The qualification will help students build confidence, prepare for future study and develop problem-solving skills.
Students will benefit from studying maths beyond the core curriculum, which will strengthen their progression into A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, support sixth form applications, and demonstrate a student’s commitment to mathematical study beyond. For schools and colleges, it provides a valuable way to extend enthusiastic mathematicians and recognise advanced problem-solving and independent learning.
We offer two professional development opportunities: a webinar that runs throughout the year to help schools explore why and how to offer AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics, and an in-depth course to develop teachers’ subject knowledge and pedagogy for successful delivery.
