Overview

Empowering young women to step confidently into Level 3 mathematics.

The Balancing the Equation day is designed to develop students’ problem-solving and teamwork skills while encouraging more female students to pursue maths post-16. We encourage students who have the potential to take A level Mathematics but may lack confidence to attend.

During the day, students will collaborate in small groups on an extended mathematical problem and hear from young women who use maths in their careers. Students will also have the opportunity to quiz current university students about their experiences.

This event is ideal for Year 10 female-identifying students who could go on to study maths Post-16, but may benefit from a confidence boost. Non-binary and trans students are warmly welcomed if they feel this is the right space for them.
