Thanks to the success of its first round of sessions, our online course Teaching with Desmos is returning in 2021. The course has been designed to demonstrate to all teachers, even those that have never used Desmos before, how they can utilise this powerful technology in their teaching.

Desmos is free dynamic graphing software that can be used very effectively to help deepen students’ understanding of maths. Desmos also provide an extensive range of pre-made classroom activities, as well as the option to personalise or create your own activities for use with your students.

Running from the end of January and across the spring term, the AMSP will deliver a series of free online twilight sessions. The sessions will demonstrate how you can use the software effectively with students, both face-to-face and via remote learning. Teaching with Desmos is suitable for all teachers of GCSE or A level Mathematics who would like to make greater use of technology in their teaching. No prior knowledge or experience of Desmos is required to participate.

The online sessions will run on Thursdays from 16:30-18:00, and topics to be covered include:

  • Introduction to Desmos – using the graphing calculator
  • Introduction to Desmos Activities
  • Using Desmos for statistics.

This course is available free of charge to all teachers working in state-funded schools or colleges in England. Applications from those teaching GCSE or A level Mathematics in other institutions will be considered if there is capacity.
