Teaching with Desmos online course
Friday 4th September 2020
We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new online course Teaching with Desmos. This course has been designed to demonstrate to all teachers, even those that have never used Desmos before, how they can utilise this powerful technology in their teaching.
Desmos is free dynamic graphing software that can be used very effectively to help deepen students’ understanding of maths. Desmos also provide an extensive range of pre-made classroom activities, as well as the option to personalise or create your own activities for use with your students. From September and throughout the autumn term, the AMSP will be running a series of free online twilight sessions. These sessions will demonstrate to teachers how they can use the software effectively with students both face-to-face and via remote learning.
Teaching with Desmos is suitable for all teachers of GCSE or A level Mathematics. No prior knowledge or experience of Desmos is required to participate. Sessions will run from 16:30-18:00. Topics to be covered include:
- Introduction to Desmos Graphing calculator
- Introduction to Classroom Activities
- Using Desmos for statistics.
You can find out more information and apply for Teaching with Desmos on the AMSP website. This course is available free of charge to all teachers working in state-funded schools or colleges in England.
