Free online sessions for teachers of A level Biology, Geography and Psychology

Thursday 11th November 2021

We’re excited to be running a series of free online sessions for teachers of Biology, Geography and Psychology at A level. The sessions aim to develop your confidence in teaching the mathematical elements of your A level subject, and provide a valuable opportunity to network with others teaching the same subject as you. If you're a teacher of maths, we'd be grateful if you'd share the details below with your colleagues in relevant departments.

We're running three separate courses:

Maths for teachers of A level Biology

  • Sessions include Statistical testing with a focus on t-tests and Standard deviation and measuring spread.
  • Running in partnership with the Association for Science EducationOpens a new window as part of the ‘Mathematics for Biology Teachers’ (MfBT) project, with support from the Department for Education.

All three courses include a joint session where we’ll show how you can make the most of the free software, DesmosOpens a new window, in your classroom. We’ll also cover the links between the Level 3 Core Maths course and other A level subjects.

These courses are free to attend. Due to the way the AMSP is funded, priority will be given to teachers from state-funded schools and colleges in England, and trainee Biology, Geography and Psychology teachers. Teachers from other institutions are very welcome to apply and will be accepted if we have capacity.
