hula hoop

Hula Hoops are a variety of crisps that are small cylinders.  The cylinders will just fit on a child’s finger.

The manufacturers claim that “it would take 4 billion Hula Hoops to go around the world once”!

  1. Calculate roughly how big the equator of the earth is.
  2. How many bags of crisps would 4 billion Hula Hoops be?
  3. Will they sell enough Hula Hoops in a year to go around the world? How many times?
  4. Choose another snack (for example, a Mars Bar). How many of them would be needed to go around the world once?
