At the Brooke Weston Academy in Corby, teachers from around the East Midlands and beyond attended an all-day professional development event designed to provide them with strategies for developing the reasoning skills of their pupils. In the featured photo, teachers are working on a task to reason if given sequences are sometimes, always or never monotonic.
Raising Confidence with Reasoning was very well received, with all teachers who attended rating it as excellent. The day forms part of a larger suite of professional development events, aimed to support teachers of GCSE Mathematics. There are two more planned events at Brooke Weston – a day focused on problem solving on Wednesday 5 December, and a day looking at the transition from KS4 to KS5 on Thursday 7 February.
