The Advanced Mathematics Support Programme invites you to a day of stimulating mathematical talks and activities at the University of Bradford, designed to help students see the usefulness and fun of maths beyond the curriculum.
Schools may bring up to 15 students and accompanying teacher(s) free of charge; this event is open to all state schools. Independent schools may apply and we will let you know if we have spaces.

Workshops we have had in the past have been optimisation, the maths roadshow, problem solving etc.
We will also be providing a tour of the university so please wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothing.

Aims
- To provide students with a experience of higher education
- To broaden students minds about what is maths in the real world
- To offer students a taste of Maths beyond GCSE
- To provide information about Maths options available post 16
Who will benefit from attending?
This event is for year 10 maths students are interested in pursuing STEM careers, who are considering studying maths beyond GCSE, especially those who may be undecided.
Content
Outline for the day:
9:30-10:00 Arrival, registration, tea/coffee for teachers
10:00-10:15 Intro at Horton Barn Lecture Theatre
5 mins go to first room / toilet
10:20-11:10 Workshop 1 50mins
5 min break change room, go to toilet
11:15-12:05 Workshop 2 50 mins
5 min break change room, go to toilet
12:10-13:00 Workshop 3 50 mins
13:00-13:30 Lunch; staff and Students bring their packed lunch, tea/coffee for teachers and presenters provided using University’s vouchers
1:30-2:20 Campus Tour between 30-45 mins
2:20-2:30 Outro, complete feedback forms at Horton Barn Lecture Theatre

Materials and Equipment
Students should bring pens or pencils, a protractor, a pair of compasses, ruler, a water bottle and packed lunch.
Staff should bring a packed lunch; tea's and coffee's will be provided
Other Information
You are invited to bring a group of Year 10 students to this event; the group will need to be accompanied by an adult/adults from school who will be responsible for them during the day.
Details on how to get there to the venue and car parking arrangements will be forwarded to participating schools closer to the event.
Eligibility
This event is for participants from state-funded schools and academies. Applications from independent schools will be accepted if there is availability.
