Overview

Return of the annual competition for teams of 4 Year 12 students to build and fly a model glider.

Aims

  • To work collaboratively in a team to produce end product
  • To solve mathematical problems to create the best possible glider
  • To find out more about careers in engineering

Yr12 students interested in Engineering Degree Courses

Content

Short talk on careers in aeronautical enginnering and degree entry requirements

Demonstration on balancing a model glider.

Designing and building a model glider

Flying the glider against the other teams.

Opportunity to use a flight simulator and tour the hangar.

Materials and Equipment

Materials kindly provided by Hartlepool College of Further Education.

Students may want to bring calculators and writing equipment.

Other Information

There will be a plaque for the winning school!

The college would like to take photographs of the event so we will be sending out parental permission forms following confirmation of places.
