Hertfordshire Year 10 Enrichment DayHatfield
A day of mathematical activities with the opportunity for students to meet enthusiasts of their own age and older.
The emphasis of the day will be that mathematics can be both fun and challenging.
- To provide students with presentations and activities that stimulate mathematical thinking,
- To allow students to work collaboratively on a task.
Who will benefit from attending?
We hope that you will be able to bring a group of up to 16 students from year 10 who would enjoy the challenge of this event.
In the morning there will be an introductionary talk and then students will be split into two groups and everybody will engage in two interactive maths workshops with practical elements. In the afternoon there will be a lecture for all students.
Materials and Equipment
For the team practical, students will need to have a pencil, ruler, protractor, compasses and Casio calculator.
This is a repeat of the event in January. Schools who attended then should not apply unless they are able to bring a different group of students.
Students should bring their own refreshments and drinks, including a packed lunch. Buffet lunch will be provided for teachers.
Parking arrangements will need to be made in advance. Number plates of vehicles will need to be provided by email on request in the week prior to the event. There will be the facility to drop students off without parking.
Year 10 students at state funded schools accompanied by one or more teachers.
Places are limited to a maximum of 16 per school. Applicants will receive an email to indicate that sufficient places are available. An email will be sent to the senior teacher so that they can confirm that cover has been arranged and places can then be formally allocated.
