- Use the Desmos graphing calculator to obtain summary statistics
- Use the Demos graphing calculator to produce visualisation of data sets
Who will benefit from attending?
This short PD session will be of benefit to all teachers who wish to develop their students understanding and ability to analyse data
Content
We will use real data sets, including the large data sets from A level exam boards, to analyse and interpret data using commands in the Desmos graphing calculator. There will be a focus on producing summary statistics and diagrams for single and bivariate data. We will look at changing elements of the data set to consider the effects this will have on the data.
Materials and Equipment
It is advisable to bring along a laptop to work with in the session.
All data will be supplied before the event.
Eligibility
Any teacher working in a school or college in the UK can apply for this course. However, due to the way we are funded, priority will be given to teachers in state-funded schools and colleges in England. Applications from those teaching GCSE or A level Mathematics in other institutions will be confirmed if there is capacity. This course is only open to teachers working in schools or colleges in the UK.
