Women in mathematics and STEM

This half day is designed to inspire girls to consider continuing studying mathematics beyond GCSE, and to have greater awareness of mathematics careers.

The event will open with a short talk, then pupils will move between workshops. The workshops will be careers-based with a focus on women working in STEM, and involve tackling context-based problem solving tasks in teams.

So ... if you have girls in year 10 that would benefit from knowing more about how maths permeates careers, or that might be wavering about choosing maths post-16, sign them up now!

  • Have an awareness of the breadth of careers that involve mathematics
  • Solve problems in the context of STEM careers
  • Enjoy working as a team on context-based mathematics

Who will benefit from attending?

This event is open to Year 10 female pupils, with priority being given to schools in the local area.

It will be suited to students who are considering A level or Core Mathematics qualifications.
