Little Heath Teacher Network
Using Desmos Graphing calculator to teach StatisticsOverview
The Little Heath Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of Maths in the Reading and West Berkshire areas to meet, collaborate and share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is planned by teacher request and will involve a mixture of informal sessions and training events
Content
In this network session, we will look at some ideas for using the large data set to teach some of the A level statistics content. During the session we will be using the Desmos graphing calculator to manipulate data, draw diagrams and finding summary statistics, and in doing so familarise your students with the large data set.
There will be an opportunity to look at exam questions that refer to the large data set and to discuss how you use the large data set in your own school/college.
