West Midlands Teacher Network

Moderation and Work Scrutiny

Overview

The West Midlands Mathematics Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We usually meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events. We try to provide meetings that look at pertinent issues that have an impact on the West Midlands area.

Content

An opportunity for subject leaders and key stage 5 coordinators to scrutinise and moderate a range of A Level work from different schools across the region. Each teacher should bring a sample of work from their own school. Conversations and discussions will link to curriculum mapping, intent and implementation. Attendees could approach this session by identifying within the work they are presenting a specific learning objective, the place of this within the scheme of work, the intent of this part of the curriculum and/or how this is implemented. Discussions could focus on how the work demonstrates that the students know, understand and can do more as the curriculum progresses and how work is targeted for the starting points of individual students.
