Core Maths Across the Curriculum
Studying Core Maths helps students to develop their quantitative, problem-solving and mathematical modelling skills, and improves their confidence when working on the mathematical content of other level 3 courses that they may be taking. In this session we will explore how to get the most out of the Core Maths course by working collaboratively with other subject areas.
- To consider how level 3 Core Maths can have a positive impact on student progress and attainment across the curriculum
- To explore the mathematical demands of some other level 3 qualifications
- To explore some of the challenges and opportunities that exist in developing a coordinated approach towards the use of mathematics at level 3
Who will benefit from attending?
Current and prospective teachers of Core Maths and teachers of level 3 subjects with applied quantitative components. In fact, this session would be an ideal opportunity for teachers of maths to come with a non maths teaching colleague and start the ball rolling.
Teachers of mathematics who teach Key Stages 3 and 4 but not Key Stage 5 are also encouraged to attend.
Materials and Equipment
The session will be remote and will take place on Zoom. We aim to emulate as much of the ‘face-to-face’ experience as possible and would like participants to be proactive in communicating during sessions. Please come armed with a working microphone. We also strongly encourage you to attend with a web-cam.
You will be sent a Zoom link to access the workshop in the days prior to the session and again on the day of the session.
This course is free for teachers from state-funded schools, colleges and academies in England.
