Engaging students with A-level Statistics - chosen topics

This teacher day will be dedicated mainly to chosen topics in AS and A-level Mathematics, applied content- Statistics course.
The course will enable teachers to boost their subject knowledge and to get creative ideas on pedagogical approches in the classroom.
The course will discuss the following:
- how to incorporate learning the large data set in lessons whilst still covering the skills required
- normal distribution
- hypothesis testing
Aims
- to develop subject knowledge and pedagogy when teaching Normal Distribution and Hypothesis testing
- to discuss creative strategies and activities using technology when teaching Large Data Set
- to discuss ways of engaging students with Statistics at KS3 and KS4
Who will benefit from attending?
Teachers who currently teach A-level Mathematics, Statistics content or any teacher aspiring to do so.
Materials and Equipment
Please bring your laptop and Casio Classwizz, if you can.
Other Information
The refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Eligibility
This event is free for teachers in the state sector. All teachers from Priority Area schools qualify for £250 per teacher which will be paid to the school upon completion of the course to help with the cost of cover.
