Leicestershire Mathematics Teacher Network

Encouraging Students to take Level 3 Maths

The Leicestershire Teacher Network is an AMSP funded project, allowing teachers of KS4 and KS5 Mathematics to meet, collaborate and share best practice. We meet 4 times a year, enabling teachers to meet, collaborate and share best practice. The programme is mainly delegate-led. Teachers will be able to share ideas, resources, strategies and plans, as well as being updated on the AMSP support currently available.

This Network Meeting will focus on how to encourage 11-16 students to continue with mathematics at Level 3 - both A Level and Core Maths.

It is very important that students maintain a broad spectrum of subjects as they enter Level 3 in order to ensure greater choice in both Higher Education and Employment, and study mathematics is they wish to pursue a STEM degree and/or career.

We will look at Level 3 maths qualifications and expectations so that you are able to prepapre your students for Level 3 and be able to promote Level 3 Mathematics to all of your students. This event will consider how maths teachers can best support their students and address the Gatsby benchmarks (as expected by the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework).

The meeting will provide you with PowerPoint slides and resources for use in schools, together with instructions and examples of how to use these materials.
