Focus on Female Participation in MathsOnline
This event is designed to provide insights and strategies into how best to support and encourage female students in their maths at GCSE, with a view to directing them to choose maths options at A level.
Key strategies and considerations will be presented and there will be an opportunity to discuss these with colleagues. Fiona Kitchen will outline the AMSP local and national support available for teachers and students for this academic year, and how this can complement what is provided in-school.
We are delighted to have two guests from The University of Warwick Maths Institute; Elukchana Vivekananthan (undergraduate, Mathematics BSc) and Dr. Josephine Evans (Warwick Zeeman Lecturer). They will be available to share their experiences and mathematical journeys as females and also share their thoughts on the key issues female students can face.
- To increase awareness of the issues female students can face
- To outline considerations and strategies to support female students
- To highlight further support available from the AMSP
- To provide a forum for teachers to discuss the issues they are facing and how they might implement the strategies discussed
Who will benefit from attending?
Any teacher looking to increase their awareness and knowledge of how best to support female students to succeed and progress in maths. This event is particularly suitable for teachers at KS3 and KS4 but those teaching at KS5 will also benefit.
