Support for MAT & TMUA

This is an online course to support students from the East Midlands who are preparing for the MAT or TMUA admissions tests. The MAT is accepted by Oxford, Warwick and Imperial College whilst the TMUA is considered by Bath, Cardiff, Durham,Lancaster, LSE, Nottingham, Sheffield, Warwick and Cambridge (for Computer Science)

It should be noted that there are specific courses for the MAT and TMUA run by AMSP nationally, this course is intended as an alternative for anyone who is unable to take part in one of those courses for any reason. It should also be able to take part in this course alongside the longer course for students preparing for the STEP paper.

We will focus strongly on the content which is common to both tests with later sessions on test-specific aspects depending upon the needs of the participants.

Places on the course are limited, and priority will be given to students from state-sector schools and colleges in the East Midlands.

The online Platform that we use is called Big Blue Button which is a highly secure environment. Students can access the platform on laptops, tablets or phones, but will get more out of the course if able to interact with a microphone.

Numbers will be limited to encourage interaction and discussion but it is likely that there will be a choice of two session times.

  • To introduce mathematical problems at the appropriate level
  • To develop students' problem solving skills so that they have confidence in applying to universities requiring these entrance tests.

Who will benefit from attending?

Students who intending to sit the MAT or TMUA.
