What happens in the AMSP Problem Solving Classes?Online
This is a short online session for teachers, to introduce the format and content of the Higher Level Problem Solving Classes for Y12 and Y13 which focus on problem solving and reasoning. Find out how the classes run, the sort of activities your students will do, and try out some of the tasks yourselves.
The session will also include comparing the three University Admissions Assessments (TMUA, MAT and STEP).
Teachers will get access to past assessment papers, administration information, and ideas on how to support any students enrolled in the classes.
You do not need to have registered students for the Problem Solving Classes to attend this session.
- To familiarise teachers with the content and format of the online Y12 and Y13 Problem Solving Classes
- To provide information about the three University Admissions Tests: MAT, TMUA and STEP
- To explore some of the mathematics that students will experience during the classes
Who will benefit from attending?
The session is suitable for any teachers that expect to have students attending the problem solving classes, or attempting the admissions tests this year, or that are new to teaching high attaining A Level pupils and wish to begin exploring relevant problem solving skills.
This session is FREE.
Materials and Equipment
The session is online and you will need access to suitable equipment. You are advised to use a headset or headphones with an inline microphone to provide the best sound quality and to prevent audio issues for other users. A laptop with a built-in webcam and microphone may be sufficient if you’re in a quiet area but please take the time to check this before the session. BBB is designed to be used on a variety of platforms but you will get the best experience via a desktop or laptop computer, running either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as the browser.
