Planning and adapting your A level Mathematics course for 2021

This online twilight session will explore resources and strategies for teaching A level maths with a focus on curriculum planning.

Participants will have time to discuss key themes for 2021-22 and consider how to support students with differing needs.

The session will include sharing key sources and opportunities for participants to share their own best practice, and will begin with AS maths and move to A2 maths if there is sufficient time.

There will be a short comfort break during the session.

  • To consider priorities for the new Year 12 students
  • To explore sources of curriculum planning support for teachers
  • To develop a framework for adapting the A level scheme of work for current circumstances
  • To begin to embed problem solving and reasoning activities within the curriculum

Who will benefit from attending?

The course is designed for AS or A level Mathematics teachers that wish to review their planned curriculum in the context of recovery programmes. It will also benefit teachers that are amending their curriculum to include an emphasis on problem solving and reasoning.

Materials and Equipment

The session is being held online, so you will need access to suitable equipment. You are advised to use a headset or headphones with an inline microphone to provide the best sound quality and to prevent audio issues for other users. A laptop with a built-in webcam and microphone may be sufficient if you’re in a quiet area but please take the time to check this before the session.
