So you've decided to do Core Maths, what now?


You have made the right decision to offer Core Maths next year and now you need to know how you're going to deliver it. This session looks at comparing of the content of the different L3 Core Maths qualification, ideas on how to promote the course to your students, possible approaches to timetabling, information on where to find resources and other useful tips. There will also be the opportunity to discuss ideas with other teachers new to Core Maths, as well as an experience Core Maths advocate.


  • To provide an overview of the different L3 Core Maths qualifications to help teachers decide which one to use.
  • To share ideas on how to promote the course to your students and identify the benefits of the course for students.
  • To give incite on timetabling and on require time commitment to deliver the course, be it for a one or two year structure.
  • To inform about possible teaching resources to use and where to find them.

Who will benefit from attending?

Any teacher or department leader whose school will be delivering Core Maths for the first time next academic year.


As well as being informed on the item in the aims of the session, there will be an opportunity for questions to be asked and discussion amongst those in attendance. There will also be an opportunity to engage in a little bit of the mathematics that will be taught during the course.

Other Information

There will be a follow up session in September when there will be a greater focus on resourses and teaching ideas for Core Maths.
