Making them think! (Buckinghamshire Teacher Network)Do you want to know more about Desmos classroom activities? (with Tom Button)
Making them think! is a network for teachers in Buckinghamshire schools. It is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of Core Maths and of A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. The programme is planned in response to teacher requests and is currently alternating between sessions focused on Core Maths and sessions on A level Mathematics Further Mathematics. We meet half-termly and sessions are a mixture of presentations and discussion.
Tom Button is well-known for his knowledge of IT systems. In this meeting he will be exploring the extensive set of pre-made desmos classroom activities that can be used with students online/remotely. Editing and creating your own activities will also be demonstrated. He is happy to answer your questions about using desmos classroom activities.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to catch up with other teachers during these extraordinary times.
This meeting is suitable for any Maths teacher. It is primarily for teachers from Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire, but other teachers are welcome if there is space.
Materials and Equipment
The meeting will be on the Zoom platform.
The link to the meeting will be emailed in the week before the meeting.
You are advised to use a headset or headphones with an inline microphone to provide the best sound quality and to prevent audio issues for other users. A laptop with a built-in webcam and microphone may be sufficient if you’re in a quiet area but please take the time to check this before the session.
In order to fully participate in the meeting please be willing to use your camera and microphone, although if this is impossible the chat option will be available.
We will be using a Desmos activity so you will need to be using a device which can support this.
As part of our safeguarding procedures please note the following:
