North West GCSE ONLINE Summer Festival: "Kinematics in context"

Overview

The NW Summer GCSE Maths Festival is a series of four 1.5 hour ONLINE professional development sessions on GCSE Maths.

This session will focus on the teaching of kinematics in GCSE Mathematics.

Aims

  • To develop strategies and gain access to resources for teaching kinematics in GCSE Mathematics
  • To develop strategies to engage learners and enrich their GCSE Mathematics lessons

Who will benefit from attending?

Teachers of GCSE Mathematics.

Content

In this workshop we will:
•       Consider the building blocks of kinematics using graphs and problem solving.
•       Explore a range of resources and activities designed to challenge students to think, reason make connections and develop a deep understanding of basic kinematics.

Materials and Equipment

It will be helpful to have access to either Geogebra or Desmos (online is fine) during the session.
