Cross Curricula Collaboration & Core Maths
A Core Maths PD Event which focuses on raising cross-curricula awareness between maths and non-maths Specialists, focussing on the maths required in Level 3 non-maths subject areas and the maths skills taught in Level 3 Core Maths.
This event will focus on building collaboration between Maths teachers and teachers of other A level subjects where there is high mathematical content. We will look at some of the maths skills taught in the Level 3 Core Maths qualification and where there is overlap between other A level subjects.
Although this is being organised for teachers in the West Midlands we will be joined by colleagues from the North East and potentially further afield.
- To raise awareness of mathematical requirements and the level of those requirements in non-maths subjects
- To raise awareness of the content and skills developed within a Core Maths course and the relevancy of this to other non maths subjects
- To encourage dialogue and discussion between teachers of different subjects to enable and facilitate more efficient planning at Level 3
- To raise the profile of Core Maths and enable teachers and students to see the relevancy of it as a viable subject of study
Who will benefit from attending?
This is particularly aimed at Maths teachers and teachers of A Level subjects such as (but not exclusively) Biology, Geography and Psychology. It would be relevant for teachers of any A-Level subject where there is high mathematical content. Ideally, it would be good to have a maths and other subject teachers from the same school to try and build awareness of how Core Maths can support other subjects and build a collaborative approach within your school
