Little Heath Teacher NetworkUsing Geogebra Classroom for A level and Further Maths
The Little Heath Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of Maths in the Reading and West Berkshire areas to meet, collaborate and share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is planned by teacher request and will involve a mixture of informal sessions and training events
In this meeting we will aim to demonstrate how to use GeoGebra classroom activities in A level and Further Maths and how teachers can adapt, create and set them for their students.
GeoGebra is a very powerful dynamic graphing tool that can be used to visualise many of the concepts in A level Maths such as functions, calculus and trigonometry. It is also especially useful for Further Maths as it has tools for complex numbers, matrices, 3D Geometry and polar curves.
The new GeoGebra Classroom feature allows you to easily share activities with classes of students and review their interactions and responses. This is an ideal tool to suit learning in classrooms or remotely.
This session is suitable for those who already have some familiarity with basic curve plotting in GeoGebra.
The session will be led by Tom Button.
Tom Button is the Technology PD Lead for the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme and MEI's Mathematics Technology Specialist. He tweets about the use of technology in maths at @mathstechnology and blogs at digitalmathematics.blogspot.com.
Materials and Equipment
The session will be delivered through Zoom. The link for the meeting will be sent out on the day of the event.
We recommend that you have a camera and microphone to get the best out of the session.
It would be useful to be able to work on another device or to be able to switch between tabs whilst in the session.
