Our Core Maths Summer Festival is back for 2023 and will be held in June this year. This free festival is an extensive series of online interactive workshops, which will be relevant to all teachers that wish to bring their maths lessons to life. You do not need any prior knowledge of L3 Core Maths to join.
Our Core Maths Summer Festival will feature eight interactive workshops, each designed to enthuse, challenge and enlighten you around a theme related to Core Maths. This year, there are three ‘Preparing to teach’ sessions aimed at those who will be teaching Core Maths for the first time in September.
The workshops coming up this year:
5 June | Use of context to engage GCSE and GCSE resit students |
7 June | Preparing to teach 1 – Planning and resources |
8 June | Linking the maths curriculum to the world of work |
13 June | Realistic Maths Education (RME) |
14 June | Preparing to teach 2 – Recruitment and cross-curricular collaboration |
15 June | Challenging Topics in Assessment |
19 June | Addressing Maths Anxiety in the Core Maths Classroom |
20 June | Preparing to teach 3 – Which activities to do first? |

Our Core Maths Summer Festival is free of charge to all teachers in England. All teachers are eligible to apply for a place but, if the festival becomes over-subscribed, teachers from state-funded schools and colleges will be given priority. As a result we may be unable to provide places to non-state-sector applicants.
