Mechanics: Using pictures when practicals aren't possible
Overview
As an extraction from the "Mechanics: Practicals, Pictures, Problems and Preparation", this event focuses on the use of media files in our teaching of mechanics, whether it is being done online or in the classroom.
Aims
- To be aware of how video and dynamic geometry can be used to support the learning of mechanics.
- To enhance your online delivery of mechanics topics.
Who will benefit from attending?
Any teacher delivering, or looking to deliver, the mechanics section of the Mathematics A Level.
Content
The session will look at modelling motion, using picture and video to introduce a problem. We will use "hooks" to develop mathematical representations and will engage with the curricumlum topics of motion graphs, suvat equations and projectiles. Delegates will then be able to take away resources and new ideas to use in the classrooms, virtual or not.
