Somerset, North Somerset and East Devon Online Teacher Network (AMSP SW2 Area)Avoid teaching into the void!
Teacher Networks are an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events and informal sessions.
Have you had an online lesson where you felt like you were teaching into the void? With no idea if your students have understood, or even listened to, your explanations? If yes then you're not alone!
In this short online session Tom Rainbow and Margaret Harding (AMSP Area Coordinators) will introduce and demonstrate using and creating basic Desmos classroom activities. These can be used to gauge student understanding and give manageable feedback during remote teaching.
The aim for this session is to show teachers how Desmos activities could enhance remote learning, and how they can be quickly and effectively used with minimal time invested by busy teachers.
The session will run from 16:15 to 17:15, and we will be available until 17:45 to respond to any questions you might have.
This session is aimed at teachers with no, or limited, experience of Desmos classroom activities.
Teachers with experience of Desmos who are looking to develop their skills further should consider something like https://amsp.org.uk/events/details/8002 instead.
