Bringing remote learning to life - Free tools to enhance your online psychology lessons
This event is being run in conjunction with the Association for the Teaching of Psychology.
Desmos is free and easy to use software that can help improve the engagement of your remote pupils and deepen their understanding of data skills. It can be used to create engaging and powerful activities for both synchronous and asynchronous teaching.
- To be able to create, set and adapt Desmos activities to enhance engagement and students' understanding
- Provide examples of maths problems that could be used in teaching of students in psychology
- Network and share ideas with fellow teachers
Who will benefit from attending?
This session is aimed at non-maths teachers, in particular, teachers of psychology.
If you are a maths teacher please look here to see our suite of free Core Maths teacher support including our Core Maths Common Topics course as well as our on demand Core Maths top ups professional development.
Materials and Equipment
Participants should expect to be proactive in communicating during sessions, so the use of microphones and web-cams is encouraged. It would be helpful, but not essential, if you have signed up for a Desmos account prior to the session (this can be done by visiting the Desmos home page)
It would also be useful to have a folder of saved pictures that could be used to create a card sort.
Teachers who sign up will be emailed in the days prior to the session and again on the day of the session with a link to the online meeting room.
The sessions are free of charge to all teachers from state-funded schools and colleges.
