We're pleased to welcome a guest speaker to our January meeting: Tom Rainbow from the AMSP will give us an exclusive preview of a recently-written Core Maths enrichment activity.

Tom currently works as an AMSP Area Coordinator as well as sharing responsibility for resourcing and coordination of the AMSP’s Core Maths professional development. Prior to that, in addition to teaching Mathematics for twenty five years (including Core Maths for four years), he worked as a Core Maths Lead for the Core Maths Support Programme (CMSP), and has been a Further Maths Support Programme (FMSP) Area Coordinator and a teacher educator. Tom says, 'Despite having always been in thrall to the beauty and elegance of pure mathematics, I am also passionate about the empowering properties of mathematics in helping students understand the world around them and I feel strongly that all students should have the opportunity to pursue this form of learning.'

There will also, as usual, be an opportunity for classroom teachers of maths to contribute to discussions about how things are going in their schools, and how best the AMSP can support schools and pupils during the Spring Term.
