Problem Solving for C grade Students
OnlineOverview
Many teachers have expressed concern that middle-grade students are struggling with the problem solving and modelling aspects of the new specifications. This course has been devised to attempt to meet these needs.
Aims
- To consider approaches to teaching that will support the mathematical understanding of average A level students
- To consider strategies for supporting problem solving for average A level students.
- To identify the key skills needed for students to tackle modelling questions with confidence.
Who will benefit from attending?
All teachers of A level mathematics who are concerned about the progress of middle-attaining students.
Content
We will look at strategies which could assist average students in progressing towards their predicted A level grades. There is no magic bullet, but we believe these ideas could form the basis of a departmental strategy for addressing the issue.
Materials and Equipment
The session will be remote and will take place on the Big Blue Button(BBB) platform, and we will be using a desmos activity. So you will need a laptop/desktop computer or other internet enabled device.
