East Midlands (Derby) Network
Studying Maths at University, Intervention for Struggling A Level Students and Online Maths ClubsOverview
The East Midlands (Derby) Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of KS4 and KS5 Mathematics to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet once every half term with a different focus for each meeting. The focus of each meeting is decided by the demand from teachers that attend.
Content
Our meetings are an informal way to meet other teachers in the Nottingham and Derby area and to share ideas and experiences. This event is suitable for all teachers of secondary maths. In this first meeting of 2021, we will be welcoming Assistant Professor Edward Hall from the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham who will be talking to us about studying Maths at University. We hope to discuss what students are looking for in their degree courses. We will also look at ways of intervention with our students who may have taken their mock exams and how we can help them to reach their full potential despite not facing a final examination this year. We will also be looking at resources for Online Maths Clubs for our younger pupils to help them keep motivated.
