Mathematics in Context at GCSEOverview
During this session you will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the use of context when teaching mathematical concepts. We will also explore topical resources to take straight to your face-to-face or online lessons and ways of using these activities to encourage students to continue studying maths after GCSE.
Aims
- To discuss and reflect on the use of context when teaching mathematical concepts
- To try out resources for teaching mathematical concepts in 'real world' contexts
- To discover ways of encouraging students to continue studying maths after GCSE
Who will benefit from attending?
This session is aimed at GCSE teachers of any subject which includes mathematical content. It would be particularly valuable for Maths, Geography, Psychology and Sociology teachers.
Materials and Equipment
This session is all about discussion and collaboration so, if possible, please attend with your camera and microphone on.
