What every year 7 student wished their Maths teacher knewOnline
The Kent and Medway Maths Conference is an annual event where the AMSP and the Kent and Medway Maths Hub come together to provide outstanding professional development opportunities for teachers of maths in Kent and Medway. The conference is taking place online this year and is running as a series of twilight workshops. This event is one of those workshops.
About the presenter
Janine Allen is the Teaching for Mastery Lead for Kent and Medway Maths Hub. She has worked as a maths specialist in school improvement for nearly 20 years and has been accredited as a Maths SLE and NCETM Primary Mastery Specialist.
Janine is currently working to improve understanding in early KS3 maths by identifying the ‘rules’ which are used in teaching and endeavouring to improve understanding by explaining the concepts that underpin them.
Who will benefit from attending?
This workshop is aimed at KS3 maths teachers interested in adding value to the year 7 curriculum and in teaching for conceptual understanding.
