Hull and East Riding KS5 Network

Using Higher level Problem Solving to enhance teaching* CANCELLED*

Overview

Hull and East Riding Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events and may include informal sessions.

Content

An increasing number of Universities use Admission tests as well as A Level results.  Additionally the A Level syllabus includes a greater emphasis on Problem Solving and proof.

This sessions will look at using the materials available for these tests to enhance teaching in the classroom, particularly for students aiming at high grades.

We will look at the full range of Admissions Tests, providing information about content, format, dates and courses they are related to.

There will be an opportunity to experience some questions, to examine the similarities and differences between them, and the difficulties they pose students.

We will consider how some of the resources can be used in lessons, and “next steps” including links to resources for teachers, and additional opportunities for students.

This session is presented by Sally White (Regional Lead)
