Introduction to Statistics in A Level MathsManchester
This course will cover the key concepts in the statistics section of Mathematics A level.
Teaching approaches will encourage an active learning style and the development of sound understanding of key concepts through practical and modelling activities.
In addition we will look at the use of the Large Data Sets to underpin statistics teaching and will demonstrate how this can be used to increase students' interest and enthusiasm for the subject as well as their understanding and 'statistical common sense'.
- To introduce the major topics within Statistics at AS and A level Mathematics
- To strengthen teachers' understanding of the key topics in the AS level specifications
- To demonstrate teaching ideas and resources including simple practical work and modelling
- To consider how technology can be used to enhance students' understanding of statistical concepts.
