Overview

An engaging day with plenty of mathematical activity as well as information to motivate and enthuse your students. The day will also aim to inspire girls to continue studying maths beyond GCSE and to consider the benefits of a STEM based degree.

Aims

  • Increasing girls' participation in Level 3 Mathematics.
  • Raising girls' awareness of STEM careers and pathways.

Who will benefit from attending?

Year 11 girls who have the potential to study Core Maths, A level Maths or A level Further Maths. Students will be given the opportunity to gain insight into maths beyond GCSE in a fun and exciting way.

Content

The day will commence with an inspirational speaker followed by a  series of mathematical workshops and will conclude with a Q & A session with a panel of females working in STEM based occupations.   

Workshops

Students will work collaboratively in workshops on different areas of mathematics. Each workshop will be repeated so that students can take part in two of the three workshops.

Panel discussion

Each panel member will outline what their work involves and how they make use of their mathematics training. This will be followed by questions from the students.
