Ranelagh Teacher Network

GCSE/A Level Transition - Working with Same Surface Different Deep Problems

Overview

Ranelagh Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of 11-16 and A level Mathematics to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is planned by teacher request. The meetings will be a mixture of formal and informal training events

Content

This is a new network which will meet 3 times per year.

The focus for the 3 meetings this year will be on improving the transition from KS4 to KS5.

In the first meeting we will be considering and discussing tasks from Craig Bartons website - Same Surface Different Deep Structure. There will be an opportunity to share your ideas and perhaps start to design your own tasks based on these ideas with a particular focus on moving from GCSE to A level Maths.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Materials and Equipment

If you already use SSDD tasks you might want to bring your favourite task to share with the group
