A level Mechanics: Year 1 Content

Overview

This is a one day course to help prepare teachers to teach the Mechanics part of the A level specification either for the first time or to refresh the subject knowledge of teachers who have not taught this application in recent years.

This day will focus on the Year 1 content and will include Modelling, Kinematics, Forces and Vectors and Variable Acceleration.

Aims

  • To strengthen teachers understanding of the key mechanics topics in the 2017 AS level specifications
  • To demonstrate teaching ideas and resources, including simple practical work and ICT, which will promote student understanding of mechanics concepts

Teachers who are new to teaching Mechanics or have not taught Mechanics in recent years

Materials and Equipment

Delegates are asked to bring along a laptop or other internet enabled device.

Eligibility

All teachers are eligible to apply, although priority will be given to teachers from state-funded schools. 

Cost

This course is provided free of charge.

Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of £250 to support staff cover and travel costs. For more information, visit our subsidies page.
