Introduction to teaching Statistics



This one-day course is an introduction to some of the topics within A level Mathematics including the Normal Distribution, Conditional Probability and Hypothesis Testing. There will also be a session on how the Large Data Set can be used to enhance teaching of statistical topics.


Timetable for the day:

09:30     Registration and refreshments

10:00     Starter and Curriculum Update

10:30     Conditional Probability

11:30     Refreshments

11:45     Hypothesis Testing using the Binomial Distribution

12:45     Lunch (sandwiches will be provided)

1:30       The Normal Distribution

2.15       Large Data Sets

3.15       Plenary

3.30       Evaluation and end.

Who will benefit from attending?

This course is aimed at those who have not taught Statistics at A level before, or would like to refresh their subject knowledge. 

Knowledge of the statistics within GCSE Mathematics is assumed.
