A Level Further Maths - Additional Pure Topics

Overview

This course is aimed at teachers at schools and colleges where Additional Pure modules are taken in Further Maths, while the focus in on the topics in the MEI specification there is crossover with Edexcel A level Additional Pure and AQA Additional Pure

The focus will be on Group Theory, Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, Recurrence relationships and Multivariable Calculus including the use of technology as a teaching tool

 

Aims

  • To consider how the use of technology can enhance the teaching of Recurrence Relations and Multivariable Calculus
  • To allow teachers to become more familiar with the topics in the Additional Pure modules in A level Further Maths
  • To network with other teachers who teach these modules
  • To get an insight into the bigger picture of these topics

Teachers who teach the Additional Pure modules for A level Further Maths or those are considering teaching this module in the future.

Content

Recurrence Relations and the use of spreadsheets

Group Theory

Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors

Multivariable calculus and the use of Geogebra

Materials and Equipment

Please bring a laptop or tablet

Other Information

Lunch and all refreshments during the day will be provided

Eligibility

All state school and independent school teachers, including PGCE students are welcome to attend. Though priority will be given to state sector schools.

Cost

This event is free of charge.

Schools in Low Participation areas or Priority Areas will recieve a £250 subisidy
