Decision / Discrete for A level Further Mathematics

London

Overview

During this day, we will be focusing on two key topics - Linear Programming and Critical Path Analysis - which are common to all exam boards. We will start with the graphical approach to solving Linear Programming problems before moving onto the Simplex algorithm, including two-stage Simplex and big-M methods. We will then explore Critical Path Analysis, beginning with precedence tables and activity networks, then using these to calculate early and late start and finish times, critical activities and floats. We will also construct Gantt (cascade) charts and resource histograms.

Aims

  • To build confidence in teaching Linear Programming and Critical Path Analysis, through subject knowledge enhancement and sharing resources.
