Overview

This is an enrichment day aimed at Year 10 students who should consider studying Mathematics at Level 3. 

Aims

  • To stimulate interest in Mathematics outside of the curriculum
  • To give opportunities to see mathematics used in different and practical situations
  • To develop teamwork through a series of mathematical puzzles and challenges

Who will benefit from attending?

This event will be suitable for any student who is likely to achieve a pass at GCSE.  There will be interactive workshops covering a range of mathematical topics aimed to inspire students to select the most appropriate Level 3 Maths course for them.  

Content

During the day, students will attend workshops covering a range of content, participate in some problem solving activities and a team competition.  There will also be the opportunity to find out about the different Level 3 Mathematics courses available.

Other Information

We would particularly like schools to bring at least as many girls as boys.

The students will be allocated to the different workshops, we aim to have workshop sizes between 15-20 to enable a hands on interactive experience. Lunches will be provided for teachers, but students should bring their own lunches or money to purchase lunch.

Cost

This event is free to students in state funded schools and their teachers.
