Topics from Year 2 Pure Core Further Maths

This one-day course will address the topics of Differential Equations and Vectors which now form part of the compulsory content for Year 2 of Further Mathematics Pure Core. The day will enable teachers to update their subject knowledge as necessary and also provide possible approaches and resources to use in the classroom.

This will be especially useful to teachers who are teaching these topics for the first time this term, revising them with their first cohort of full A level further mathematicians or looking forward to teaching further maths in the future. 


  • To strengthen teachers' understanding of two of the key compulsory topics in the new A level Further Mathematics specifications
  • To demonstrate teaching ideas and resources, including the use of technology

Who will benefit from attending?

New teachers of A level Further Mathematics, experienced teachers who have not taught the full differential equations and vectors content before and those who wish to bolster their subject knowledge and pedagogy.


All Differential Equations and Vectors content which is compulsory in the new A level Further Mathematics specifications.

Materials and Equipment

If you are able to bring your own graphics calculator or a laptop/ tablet with Geogebra, you may try some of the technology based ideas presented but this is not essential.


Teachers who are on current PGCE or GTTP placements may attend free of charge if accompanied by a fee-paying colleague.
